Who are we?
We are a collective group of young Black professionals dedicated to bridging the gap in Black Mental Health to build up mentally strong leaders.
Meet the Team
A profound journey of transformation began. Founded by a dedicated Clinical Social Worker, Shawnice Hernandez, with a deep commitment to her community, Project ORF emerged as a beacon of hope, driven by a simple yet powerful idea: to bridge the gap in Black Mental Health.
In partnership with co-founder, Kala Doss, Project ORF was born. It’s not just an organization; it’s a commitment to filling the void in preventative and culturally competent mental health programs.

Here are the facts
Due to a lack in Education:
”ONLY ONE-IN-THREE AFRICAN AMERICANS WHO NEED MENTAL HEALTH CARE RECEIVES IT”
“50% PERCENT OF LIFETIME MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS BEGIN BY AGE 14 & 75% BY AGE 24”
“AFRICAN AMERICANS OFTEN RECEIVE POORER QUALITY OF CARE & LACK ACCESS TO CULTURALLY COMPETENT CARE.”
What we’re
doing about it!
PROJECT ORF’S MISSION IS CLEAR:
TO PROVIDE PROACTIVE AND SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS TO COMBAT THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS IN MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES THROUGH EDUCATION, APPLICATION, & SUPPORT.
